drawinggoose said: @hermannh @hallotristan It’s not that simple. Gdańsk was originally a Polish city, until it was taken by the Teutonic Knights in 14th century. Around 1454 it was incorporated by into Kingdom of Poland by Casimir the Great, and soon after that it became an independent city-state. It fell under German rule again after the Partitions of Poland. After WW1 it (again) became an independent city state.
