Thomas’s apt. in Berlin, Germany definitely has a soul. It’s an atmospheric home inspired by Wes Anderson.
Thomas says his roots are in Southern Germany and so is his decorating style. He admires German traditions and crafts- The sofa belonged to his grandparents.
There’s something about that wallpaper with blue leaves. The sofa is French and the painting is by Harald Erath, his favorite German artist. What an interesting vignette.
A Louis XIV chair & bookshelf in a corner serves as a library, like in a Versailles palace.
An original tile stove tells the history of the city and the building.
The wallpaper is Swedish and Thomas’s antiques represent German history.
Thomas extensively remodeled the kitchen and chose German tiles that closely resembled the originals. LOVE the pink!
The antique cuckoo clock in the kitchen was a gift from his great-grandparents.
No kitchen is complete without a fabulous antique display cabinet. This room was originally part of the kitchen, but Thomas liked the light it gets.
The antique headboard was reupholstered and Thomas found a French wardrobe for the bedroom.
The bedroom also features art by his favorite artist and another beautiful original stove.
The bath was done in pastels to give it a distinguished look, but Thomas says the tub is definitely masculine. I love this apt. It’s truly one-of-a-kind.
