I NEED 100 Years of Solitude to be good. I have hope, it sounds like Marquez’s sons want to do it justice AND its filmed in Colombia (like, what even is the point otherwise) in Spanish. Seeing that book come to life will just….ugh. It will COMPLETE ME.

C’moonnn 100 Years of Solitude we are pulling for you!! Yeah if they can pull it off (🤞🤞) this one is absolutely the one I think has the greatest chance of being so fucking good, being a sweeping critical darling, because they will have their pick of every artist in Latin America who will all want to do this right with so much love. This is gonna be like a big group passion project. They will need to get a strong central showrunner I think, and I think they will.

Upcoming TV series adaptations that have me thinkin:

The Name of the Rose, SundanceTV/AMC Networks, Italian-German co-pro but I believe performed in English

Catch-22, Hulu, dir. George Clooney

100 Years of Solitude, Netflix, Spanish-language original—thank god for Márquez’s sons for that one

the Tom Ripley series, no network yet but there’s a writer/director with HBO ties

Without trying to sound callous, I am an optimist, which of these do we think might really be good? Place your bets, I am.
