When I was rewatching Metropolis recently there was a bit in Gottfried Huppertz’s score that gave me this sudden slip-sliding feeling of familiarity, and then I realized it’s because I recognized the melody from Johnny Klimek & Tom Tykwer’s Babylon Berlin soundtrack
This was QUITE SURELY a deliberate reference they were making for their 1920s show, and it’s fun, here:
