The most interesting thing to me thus far about this whole goncherov thing is that Tumblr has collectively constructed some pretty convincing side characters for this movie. Katya leaps off the page as this frustrated woman caged by her lack of autonomy, Sofia coyly plays both sides and acts above it all when really she's desperate for the same freedom Katya is. Ice Pick Joe is a less developed character who nonetheless acts as a stand in for the inescapable nature of cycles of violence. andrey, loyal to a fault, gets pulled deeper and deeper into goncherov's orbit until there's no way for him to make it out alive

and yet with all that I have ZERO sense of who goncherov is supposed to be himself. i've see a lot of stuff suggesting that the film is theoretically about loss, including the loss of one's identity, shown primarily through the way goncherov becomes unrecognizable to himself by the time of his death at the end of the film (seeing himself in a fractured mirror is a common motif). it's very interesting to me that we have a fine time coming up with a group of collective blorbos based on mafia movie tropes, but somehow the main character feels unknowable, to the degree that we had to make that one of the core themes of the film.

I love it and meanwhile Mario Ambrosini seems to be simply 'Al Pacino' Goncharov

Proposal for a new Star Trek character:

Chief Engineer who is Always in a jeffries tube. We never see their face we only ever hear their voice and for no clear reason they Always have a problem to solve in a jeffries tube and they never send a subordinate to do it. Crew members only talk to them via com-badge or by opening one end of the tube and shouting down it. Maybe at most throughout the series we occasionally see their leg or their shoe just as they are entering the tube before another character shows up to talk to them, when the series finally comes they finally step out of the tubes but we only see them from behind.

Project done! Despite having found two pearl chokers that I easily could have adapted, I decided to make one from scratch. I didn’t have a multistrand clasp thingie so I improvised one, as you can see, and it worked…moderately well? If I were going to redo this I would probably go to the effort of getting one. The pearls are strung on a nylon coated steel wire, so the necklace is remarkably sturdy. The “blood” on the pearl beads is nail polish–unsurprisingly, I have a LOT of red nail polish–and the drips are strung on fishing line.

I used a long chain for the clasp and added some heavy beads at the end (that metal thing is hollow filigree, and not as heavy as it looks, but still a nice weight) to keep the choker from sliding. With that much weight hanging down at the back, the whole thing stays centered very well. Please ignore my hair, I just jammed it into a bun so it would be out of the way.

It’s surprisingly comfortable to wear! I don’t know what I’m going to be for halloween this year, but this is definitely going to be involved. I bet I could even get away with wearing it to work, if I don’t have any trials that day.

“I would eat his heart in the marketplace” is legit the most savage line I have ever heard, I’d like to personally thank Shakespeare for putting into words that feeling of rage and protectiveness women get when some fuckboy hurts another woman

Okay first off, I will always reblog this post, but secondly, I went to Shakespeare in the Park tonight to see this and all the women cheered *so loudly* when Beatrice said this line, and the guy in front of me looked around all shocked and a little scared and said “… oh wow” and it was ICONIQUE

I love it Shakespeare Much Ado About Nothing theatre
