One of my favorite bits of movie costuming ever is Mad Max’s outfit throughout the three original movies.
Not only does Max end up fitting himself with a leg brace made out of a truck’s tailgate after that leg is run over by bikers in the first film, but then in Thunderdome you can see that he’s stitched the left shoulder of his jacket back together after it was torn up by a clawed bandit during the truck chase at the end of the second film.

My adorable mom is visiting this weekend, and in an attempt to make my life look like that of a cool breezy Adult Person whose shit is only ever Together, I’ve been taking care of all these things…. that no one would ever notice. Like dry cleaning my winter sweaters. And using up the last of my teeth whitening strips. “Behold!” I will gesture expansively at my closet, smiling brightly, “dry cleaned.” Apparently.
In other news, they lifted the embargo on the Mad Max reviews and I don’t know if I’m going to make it. I haven’t actually READ anything obvs but the pulls are giving me words like “Hieronymous Bosch” and “feminist” and every variation of “heeellll yeah HELL YEAH” you can think of, and I just want to roll around in dust and YELL. My friend Jon and I cannot control ourselves and are pulling my mom along to see it on Sunday so help us we are.
