In 2016, over 75,000 mail-in ballots were left uncounted and discarded because they were received after mail-in voting deadlines, which all vary by state, according to CBS news.
Some states like California allow you to check with the Registrar of Voters on-line to verify both if a ballot has issued and if it was received to help prevent voting errors.
Remember, the most common forms of voter fraud are 1) gerrymandering, 2) voter suppression and 3) foreign participation through both lobbying and online misinformation.
Also don’t forget that in places where you can use a mail-in ballot, there should be at least one secure drop-box in your town where you can drop it off personally, rather than mailing it. So even if you missed your state’s deadline for mailing it back, you can still have your vote counted if you can drop it off!
You might have to call your town Clerk office or City Hall to ask them where the drop-box is located. (Ideally it should be on their webpage with voting information; but I did a post recently recounting my difficulty in finding the info, and in the end I had to call.)
^ Super important info from all these guys!! ^
Thanks for the reminder about the drop-off @eregyrn-falls. With all the mailing issues that can happen (both innocent and more nefarious) I’d much rather drop it off personally.
