I really love Irish wolfhounds and long-haired dachshunds and mutts of all stripes (& spots), but in a lot of ways I’m still in love with my family’s golden retriever, who passed away a few years ago.

Potion: What is your favorite thing to drink? Alcoholic and non alcoholic?

So right now I’m back in the warm embrace of my favorite tea, Andrews & Dunham’s Oktoberfest blend (oh man if you like tea get some from the Damn Fine Tea bros, I’ve met them and they are hilarious & wonderful and their tea is iinncredible).

And despite my interest in avant-garde cocktails, my hands-down favorite alcoholic drink is an apple cider hot toddy. To make: pour fresh apple cider (the pressed juice) into a mug, add a cinnamon stick, and microwave until hot. Pour in 1-2 ounces of your favorite whiskey or bourbon. Be so cozy.

Black Cat: Are you superstitious? If so, what are you superstitious about? (also asked by @animilimina!)

Sorta! I genuinely knock on wood when I’m afraid of jinxing myself, and I toss salt over my left shoulder if I spill some. I’m also sensitive to things I feel like could “ruin” a moment, if that makes sense? This is probably my most Hannibal-y tendency, as I’ve recently begun figuring out (also thanks to questions from memory-for-trifles!). But yeah I’ll get a little put out if I think the music is wrong for a situation or something like that, as if I’m carefully composing the elements of something to be just right. And I think that’s a form of superstition, because it’s supposing a sort of gestalt magic to a moment that can be thrown off if a little part of it is wrong.

Broomstick: If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?

We’re closing in on the coldtimes so all I want to do is go travel around Scandinavia like a frost troll cooing over dark forests and drinking glögg.

Demon: What is your worst flaw?

One is probably not asking people how they are. It’s because I hate it when people ask me this because like I know, and I realize it’s just a social nicety, but I still don’t do it. And I get rude & weird when people ask me sometimes.

Mummy: Would you rather be buried or cremated when you die?

I want to be a skeleton so ideally just buried in a shroud, if I can’t swing the earthquake death (c.f. earlier morbid revelation)

To be able to Aparate. I want this. Immediate visiting friends & family in far places. Immediate “hey I want to be on a standing on the shore facing a stormy sea right now.” Immediate being able to live in the middle of the woods.

In the Cascadia fault earthquake. I like the idea of going out dramatically and a little early. Also the notion of being just added to the mountains.
