Holy shit yeah listen you are talking to an American and I don’t even want to LOOK at our own terrifyingly abysmal election turn-out rates. Here’s something fun: there was a proposal in congress recently to make election day an official holiday so people didn’t have to try to get time off work/maybe be penalized if they did to fucking vote for the governance of their country, and the Republicans claimed this was a partisan issue. Just goes to show!!!!!!! fuck.
Also of course many people who can take the time off just straight up don’t bother to vote, which is a different type of terrible no good very bad.
Anyway you have all my sympathies, European Anon, solidarity hugs

It is the third time a parade like this has been held in the city. The first Day of the Dead parade in Mexico City took place in 2016. It was inspired by the opening sequence of the James Bond film Spectre, which features a similar event in the city.
This year’s event is in memory of Mexican refugees who died as they attempted to travel to the US.
“i don’t like either candidate so i won’t vote” what are you thinking, if enough people wuss out we’re going to have President None Of The Above? hey we’re counting the votes and ten percent of voters stayed home and jerked it to their own ideological purity, guess we just won’t have a president and all the executive level decisions will be made by a magic 8-ball for the next 4 years
i wrote this 2 years ago and – yeah. look, let’s just learn, ok? midterms coming up, pull up your big citizen pants and go do the thing.
I’m translating this so any foreigners who have been to the national museum can help as well. Please reblog regardless of where you’re from.
“After tonight’s tragedy, museology students from UNIRIO(University of Rio de Janeiro) are trying to help preserve the memory of the brazilian national museum.
We ask that those who have videos or pictures(and even selfies), of the collection share them through the e-mail thg.museo@gmail.com”
