I had no idea he deliberately assigned 7 openly gay ambassadors.

But the article is right, Rufus and his husband (in the photo) have been immensely popular here in Denmark considering he’s “just” an American ambassador. It certainly helped that they chose to get married in Denmark in the very hall where the first legally recognized same sex union in the world happened.

The queen even held a big goodbye party for them, and today his departure was cover news about how “everybody loves Rufus”.

God have mercy on the next ambassador assigned by Trump.

The National Mall has flooded with pink, as demonstrators descend on the nation’s capital Saturday for the Women’s March on Washington. Just one day after President Trump’s inauguration, marchers from across the country have gathered in the city to protest his agenda and support for women’s rights.

A three-hour rally is opening the event. The march proper is planned for the mid-afternoon, with a path that’s set to extend from a starting position near the U.S. Capitol to its endpoint near the Washington Monument.

The city’s metro system reported 275,000 rides as of 11 a.m. According to metro officials that’s eight times more than a normal Saturday. Reuters adds that the number is als “82,000 more than the 193,000 rides reported at the same point on Friday,” the day of Trump’s inauguration.

Family Thanksgiving Feast

Somehow we finally managed to do our usual dishes, but with TWISTS. This has long been my dream and I’m so happy it happened.

MENU
- herb & white wine roasted turkey
- buttery mushroom gravy
- sourdough stuffing with mushrooms, celery, and sage
- caramelized onion mashed potatoes
- haricot verts with fennel, tarragon, and toasted almonds
- biscuit-rolls, and I do mean a combination of both: these things literally had baking powder and yeast in them
- layered pear cranberry pie with ginger, orange, and rosemary

Plus, as I’m eating on my parents’ dime this weekend, I considered that some more food money saved, and donated what I would have spent to the healers & medics at Standing Rock. If any other American buds are spending Thanksgiving break with a family who has declared a moratorium on all Talk Of Current Events, which is both a really nice reprieve but ALSO feels weird and avoidant, especially in light of what this country pretends Thanksgiving is about, and you’re trying to figure out what to do with that/yourself/everything, I can really recommend this.
