so hey fun fact for anyone who wants queer history trivia: the first disco in Seattle was opened in 1973 and was a gay bar called “shelly’s leg” and it was named after a dancer named shelly who lost her leg in a confetti cannon accident and used the insurance/lawsuit settlement money to open a gay disco.

“All of a Sudden: EXTENDED DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY (In A Not Otherwise Theatrically-Oriented Work)” - given that A Bread Factory is about an art collective, it might or might not qualify. What are your thoughts on tap dancing?
Nope, even if I had watched it it would not have qualified, otherwise I would have included Madeline’s Madeline! And like, y’know Suspiria. This ~theme~ was a preponderance of surreal staged dance interludes* in works whose characters are not already performers of some variety.
Which like, WOW DO I EVER SELECT FOR THINGS WHERE THIS SORT OF MOVE MIGHT HAPPEN, HUH
(*The Favourite only barely qualified actually, since this scene was at a dance party, where one would expect to find dance, but the extent/style of the choreography was so far outside the bounds of even the already pretty surreal world established, that it still had #the vibe)
