Now that I've passed these out at Dragoncon, I can share spoilers for what I packed inside. :D
I also included a blurb about the evolution of the lead poisoning theory (in short, victorian sailors pretty much all suffered from high exposure to lead, but that alone did not bring down the expedition and the Goldner tins/water system didn't really add significant lead).

For holding the fabric, it’s like a third hand to help you while you hand sew. It clamps to the table and the bird’s body and head are a big spring loaded clip that holds things. I’ve never used one, but it would be neat to try.
A lot of them also have pincushions.
