A mini ivory ship in a ring, between two towers ?, Late 18th century

The auction house said : "Very likely made as a love token for an admiral's wife to wear while he was away at sea", I guess it was worn out of pride over a victory or it is a mourning ring, because it is too confusing for a love token and the love message behind it is missing
