Found some more pics of designer John Derian’s fabulous old former sea captain’s house.

This home is amazing b/c he left it just the way it was, b/c he respects the past. All he did to update it, was put in new plumbing and heating. When his brother visited a yr. after he moved in, he said, “Take your time renovating it.” He didn’t have the heart to tell him, “I already did.”

I just love this- so much patina & character everywhere. If it was renovated, it would be ruined. Might as well just buy a new house.

The built-ins flanking the dining room fireplace are so unusual. And, look at the hardware on the doors.

Beautiful original kitchen sink and ancient butcher block.

John made his master in the back of the house b/c it’s quiet in the morning.

Gorgeous guest room #1.

Guest room #2.

Art studio.

Sweet old sea captain’s bath.

Patio space out back. Love this house so much.
