See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

houndofbaskerville asked:

Hi! Love your blog. So, I've been watching Babylon Berlin for the first time, and I'm on season 3. I absolutely LOVE your recaps!!!

(Let me preface this by saying that I have no intention of pressuring you to continue those for the rest of s3. Everyone deserves their covid burnout time, and I really look forward to reading them whenever, or if ever, you feel like writing them up.)

Anyway, I've read your recaps for both Hannibal and Legion as well and I always love them!! They're so entertaining and useful for the details that I'm not great at catching! That's especially true for Babylon Berlin, since I'm not great at remembering faces or political plots. Your write-ups are a real help!

So I just wanted to say thank you for doing so much extra work to write these recaps, which I never fail to enjoy reading!!

God, if I could just write TV recaps for people as my employment in this world, I sure would!! I enjoy it, I really like the writing process of it. I’ve found that if I don’t watch myself closely, I’ll slide into recap writing even when what I set out to write was a review, but then ooh whoops that’s present tense, oop that’s just recounting action with interpretive framing, ah dang you’ve caught me RECAPPING. (And if I just leave it anyway, yes I did. It’s a finale!)

And we can all only hope that the kind of labor we naturally fall toward will find people who appreciate our efforts. I have been so, so lucky during my years as a critic on Tumblr to have received the sorts of messages, like this one!, that can feed a writer for a week. Thank you. ♥️♥️

The only bad thing about the pride scene is that the actors spent like 7 hours shooting in the float and kissing and it was the single most apotheotic and fantastic event that has ever happened anywhere, and yet the scene is super short.

Oh now this is fascinating! I had assumed the reason why that scene felt a bit clipped was because they DIDN'T have much time to shoot at actual São Paulo Pride, what a twist!!

I love SURPRISES, so I generally try to not pay attention to anything I might want to get into some day. And apparently I did a pretty good job with this one because no I had absolutely the hell not seen AAANY of THIS:

My biggest life regret is to have been busy with movie editing work on that fateful Sunday of May, because I was not there, even tho I literally live in that very city and worked at the time on that very avenue

Aaaahhhh you’re a movie editor in São Paulo??? Tell me aall about it!

replies thisthaisistheshit Sense8 I have just the S2 finale and the finale-finale left and am distraught but also heartened learning there is clearly like supplementary material

"WHAT age??" I CACKLED

I don't know if we'll ever be told how old they are SUPPOSED to be, but *I* can tell you that Kala and Capheus are 24 and Lito and Sun are 32. Riley's 28, Will...could be anything, Bingo free space. Wolfgang is either 22 or 35, no in between. Who is left. Oh Nomi is 29 and she thinks about it.

(Amanita is 26 and never thinks about it; Hernando is 33 and uses this when he assures Lito that being another year older will be fiiiine, it just makes you more distinguished, and adjusts his glasses where he's reading in bed)

curious-kat replied:

i just automatically assumed they were… 28. given the recurring theme of eights. (their bithday is 8/8/88 I think). I didn’t realize that wasn’t canon

wraithsonwingsposts replied:

But weren’t the sensates born at the exact same time?

crepuscule-pourpre replied:

Lito has a cake with 28 in it in the episode “Happy f*cking new year” and they are all born in the same time.

Oh my goodness you sweet eager pedants you need to practice reading to the >beginning of a thread< so that then you’d hopefully understand that I KNOW they’re all the same age, that’s WHY I’m making this joke about how they clearly aren’t 😂

I wouldn’t normally make a post that by it’s very nature puts folks on blast for fumbling some basic reading comprehension (sorry! so sorry! listen we’ve all been there!), but I’ve had a cocktail and I can’t keep receiving replies like this at this rate haha friends please, I’m just trying to joke around here it’s alright I do know! I know! And from what I know of the Wachowskis as filmmakers I did fully expect they will have set a specific canon birthdate beyond simply Riley & Will learning in 1x09 they were both born on August 8th (no year given) and being like o wow! and Jonas saying yes you all come into the world together and me going lol Hang On

folks I am a former professional television producer I promise I’m clocking TOO much that's why the editors liked me so much they could be like hey did this person ever talk about cashews and I'd be like damn straight they did let me pull it up honestly if anything this is like my curse.. helplessly tracking continuity… and making jokes about it that apparently don’t land at all haha replies curious-kat wraithsonwingsposts crepuscule-pourpre

AHHHHH! I always rewatch Sense8 during Pride and this month I just didn’t have the time and was missing it. And now look! My favorite media experiencer is doing Sense8! Or as I like to think of it- Sense8 is doing you, baby.

Aww

I do have an uncanny ability to pick the moment to watch something huh. I started this having forgotten I’d been told there was a Pride element and then they’re immediately like “it’s Pride!” and I’m just reclined on the couch in June going “ohhhohoho yeah”

las-lus replied to your post “One episode into Sense8 and…”

we need no plot we only want hot queer people figuring weird shit out

Exactly, except there’s actually not really any figuring shit out either because that would be the plot I neither have nor need. Six out of the eight of these people are a perfect Transcendentalist 100 on Openness to Experience, the only exceptions being Will who is still a 98.9 and Nomi who is a 90 but can you blame her

ewanspotter replied to your post “One episode into Sense8 and…”

yeeeeeeers!

*that was supposed to be “yes” but you know what “yers” feels right too

This is what I’m saying, just do what feels riiiight

It’s funny all of them are actually quite pressed in their situations and yet somehow the vibe of this show is always returning to this confused base Zen, it’s great, great to watch in these times

While the fall doesn’t necessarily have homoEROTIC energy I do feel it has homoSEXUAL energy off the charts tbh

Y'know I think I know what you mean, and it DID appear on my list of desert or desert-adjacent things to watch when I was in the desert myself last month.

However, it does not qualify for this set, for essentially the opposite reason that things like Desert Hearts or Priscilla, Queen of the Desert were also disqualified. As I was explaining to a friend, I had a very specific flavor in mind here, which was movies (set in the desert) that are UNQUESTIONABLY homo, yet still maintain that fun & sexy frisson of homo-deniability. That’s what this list offers.

#I remember watching this live and just screaming [spaceoperetta]

Haha same, I viscerally remember just screaming

People who have not seen this show are probably looking at these gifs thinking, …sure , but I tell you somehow in context this singular moment felt like just being fucking dunked into full deified romantic chaos on NBC dot com. My friend next to me just barely managed to get out, strained and dazzled and choking with laughter: “This is unsustainable.”

the good ol days! Hannibal replies spaceoperetta
